Esperanza y Vida© consist of two culturally competent, community-based health education programs; a breast and cervical cancer program and a diabetes prevention program. Both programs have been designed to reach out to the Hispanic/Latino community in churches and community centers across New York City. It features a group of Hispanic/Latino women and men who each speak about their triumph over breast and/or cervical cancer and diabetes to increase awareness, knowledge, and screening in the Hispanic/Latino communities. Together, they share the good news that cancer or diabetes do not have to be an automatic death sentence. |
